Four things to know this Friday

It’s been a while; a month of silence, because living through a war doesn’t leave much room to write. The fear, the exhaustion, the anxiety of not knowing what comes…

Hello my lovelies. It’s been a while.

A month of silence on here, not because there was nothing to say, but because this past month asked a lot. We’re still here, navigating the weight of a war that never quite lets you exhale. Some days feel almost normal and then the fear creeps back in, quiet and uninvited, reminding you that normal is fragile. Anxiety has been a constant companion. But so has something else: the stubborn, irrational, beautiful insistence on continuing anyway.

I turned another year older. I celebrated Eid. I held both joy and grief in the same hands, the way you learn to do here, the way Lebanese people have always done. There’s something sacred about laughing and praying and worrying all at once ; it’s not contradiction, it’s survival.

And somewhere in all of that, I am fasting the six days of Shawaal, as I do yearly, a quiet act of devotion in the middle of the noise. As usual, I do this to ease my way out of Ramadan, as this year more than ever, I felt that they robbed us the joy of the month.

I’m coming back to this space with the same intention I’ve always had, to be honest, to be present, and to remind you that you’re not alone in any of this. Because if there’s one thing I know: we only get through this together.

On that note, I want to point you toward something important. The Shift Consultancy has been amplifying trusted organizations and initiatives doing real, meaningful work on the ground and we are sharing those on the stories; please follow, share, and support wherever you can. Every signal matters.

Glad to be back. Grateful you’re still here.
