Four things to know this Friday

As Ramadan approaches, I keep coming back to its real meaning. Beyond the curated abaya edits and aesthetic suhour nights, this month is a rare, sacred invitation from Allah SWT…

Hello my lovelies, as we approach Ramadan, I would love to discuss again the true essence of this month. It’s not about curated abaya edits, perfectly styled suhour nights, or aesthetic Ramadan campaigns. It’s about something much deeper. It’s about a once-a-year gift from Allah SWT to realign our bodies, our hearts, and our souls. A sacred pause. A reset. A return. Ramadan is the month where we soften, where we reflect, where we detox not just from food but from ego, noise, distractions, and everything that pulls us away from who we are meant to be. It’s spiritual discipline wrapped in mercy.

And on a more personal note, I want to say this clearly: I will not be entertaining PR invitations that suddenly remember Muslim women only during Ramadan to tick a diversity box or fill a “hijabi quota” for a campaign. Faith is not a seasonal marketing strategy. Representation is not a once-a-year checkbox. Ramadan deserves sincerity. And so do we.

F for Fashion / Beauty

Update your ski wardrobe, The Milano-Cortina Opening Ceremony featured striking athlete parade outfits; Moncler collaborated on several country looks (including notable team uniforms) and designers like Oskar Metsavaht helped shape some of the best-dressed national looks, check the winter Olympics celebrities’ looks.
NYFW started this week: Tory Burch leaned into pragmatic, multi-functional dressing that felt made for “women on the go.” Marc Jacobs opted for a bittersweet, memory-driven mood: nostalgic silhouettes playful and democratic enough to translate into real wardrobes while still feeling distinctively Marc. Ralph Lauren served a cinematic, luxe-prep moment with layered textures; a reminder to use one elevated statement piece (a structured coat, a sculptural boot) to lift everyday looks. Rachel Scott’s first major outing at Proenza Schouler was a textured, slightly nostalgic take on downtown workwear; relevant if you like raw, lived-in polish with craft at the center. Coach continued its streak of accessible, slightly cheeky collections: revitalized leather goods, distressed knits and youth-forward touches that play well on social platforms. Collina Strada kept its mood-contrasting DNA for FW26: it’s raw, slightly punk, and still one of the few labels that turns runway theatrics into an actual message. Michael Kors marked a celebratory, cinematic return at NYFW; a show heavy on luxe-prep, polished outerwear and nostalgic star power. Carolina Herrera (Wes Gordon–staged direction) presented a gallery-minded collection that doubled as a celebration of women in the arts: bold colour accents, perfectly composed tailoring and clear nods to the house’s heritage of refined femininity.
Super bowl wasn’t just a sports spectacle, it was a fashion moment that blended cultural storytelling, celebrity runway energy, and personal expression. The biggest headline look came from Bad Bunny, who stunned in a custom all-white Zara ensemble (cream jersey with “Ocasio 64” on the back) paired with his signature adidas BadBo 1.0 sneakers, turning accessible fashion into a global moment and honoring his heritage with every detail. Onstage guests added to the style narrative: Lady Gaga appeared in a custom LUAR flamenco-inspired gown that paid homage to Latin culture, and Cardi B made a bold Halftime cameo in a Zimmermann corset paired with gladiator heels and statement jewels. Before kickoff, the tunnel walk became its own fashion stage with players like Stefon Diggs turning up in standout leather, denim and accessories and Blue Ivy Carter showing varsity-inspired cool with an Off-White jacket and relaxed denim.
