Ramadan karim, how are you spending your days? From my side, I prioritize how I spend my energy during the day to be able to perform all my prayers and read Quran as well as my daily life and work tasks without feeling drained.
When it comes to outfits, comfort and modesty come first. Focus on loose fitting and long sleeved garments, as well as kaftans and abayas. Dare to wear bright colors like vibrant reds, oranges, and yellows. Have fun with embellishments like beads, sequins, and intricate embroidery and don’t shy out of adding accessories like statement earrings, headscarves, and handbags that can instantly elevate any look.
Before digging deeper, let us get to know the different terms of modest clothing:
1. Traditional Abaya: Abayas are traditional clothing typically worn by women in many Arab countries during Ramadan. These long and flowing garments come in a variety of colors and styles, and many feature intricate designs and embroidery.
2. Kaftan: A kaftan is a long, loose-fitting garment that is typically worn by men and women in many Arabic countries. Choose a bright color and pair it with a belt for a more modern look.
This Ramadan, you will see many floral kaftans, embellished maxi dresses, colorful, sequined and metallic Abaya as well as Knit Hijab and silk palazzo pants. Here are some of the outfits ideas that I selected from the Ramadan special collections on Mango, Zara, HM, Bershka and from my favorites on Revolve and Fwrd.
Modern and trendy Ramadan looks
During Ramadan, it is important to dress modestly, but that doesn’t mean you can’t be fashionable. Look for outfits that have a modern and stylish silhouette, choose neutral colors that are easy to wear and accessorize. Try wearing statement earrings or a bold necklace, or add a pop of color with a colorful scarf. Jewelry is a great way to add some sparkle to your look; choose delicate pieces such as a gold necklace, dainty rings, or a pair of elegant earrings.
If you are building your capsule wardrobe, invest in quality staples and timeless pieces will ensure that you look modern and stylish every season. Choose muted colors and neutral tones such as beige, navy, and gray which can be easily paired with any outfit.
You can be inspired by the below examples for a modest and modern look.
1. Take your look to the next level with a colorful kaftan.
2. Pair a structured, printed blazer with a pair of loose pants.
3.For an edgier look, pair a leather jacket with a metallic maxi skirt.
4. Channel a timeless look with a beaded abaya and statement jewelry.
Ramadan looks for Hourglass shape
If you have an hourglass shape, you should look for clothing that will emphasize your curves. Look for pieces that nip in at the waist and flow out over the hips and thighs. Try a wrap dress in a flowy fabric, a long maxi skirt with a crop top or fitted blouse, a wide-leg jumpsuit or trousers with a fitted top, a belted tunic dress with a long flowy skirt, an A-line skirt with a fitted top or blouse and finally a midi or maxi skirt with a tucked-in blouse or fitted tee.
Ramadan looks for Pear shape
If you’re pear-shaped, you want to emphasize your upper body while concealing your lower body. Opt for A-line skirts that will skim your hips and thighs, and pair them with a statement necklace. Fabrics such as chiffon and georgette are perfect for creating a flattering silhouette. You can also add a belt to further cinch in the waist and highlight the upper body. Comfy palazzo pants are also a great option as they will not cling to the hips.
Ramadan looks for Rectangle shape
If you are a rectangle shape, you want to emphasize either on your upper body or your lower body while enhancing the waist. A great look for Ramadan would be an A-line dress or skirt paired with a loose-fitting top. The A-line silhouette will help to create shape and draw attention away from your waistline. A flowing scarf or long necklace could also be used to add a bit of flair to the outfit. For footwear, opt for a pair of comfortable, stylish sandals or ballet flats.
Ramadan looks for Athletic shape
If you have an athletic shape, you can choose to wear fitted, tailored clothing for a more structured look. Look for breathable fabrics such as cottons, linens, and breathable synthetics. A-line skirts, maxi dresses, and jumpsuits are great options. Pair these with a light cardigan or scarf if needed. If you want to show off your favorite feature, look for dresses that cinch at the waist or add a belt to your look. As for colors, muted colors such as beige, navy, and light grey are great options for a more modest look. For a bolder look, choose colors such as deep red, royal blue, and emerald green.
Ramadan looks for Apple shape
If you are apple shape, look for dresses or tops with a cinched waist to create the illusion of a more balanced figure. A-line and wrap dresses are ideal for creating a flattering silhouette. Also, look for darker colors and vertical stripes to elongate the body. For bottoms, try high-waisted pants or skirts and avoid any clothing that is too tight or clingy. If you are going for a more formal look, try an ankle-length dress with a wide belt to cinch the waist. Finish the look off with a light scarf or wrap.
