Mar Mkhayel back-roads have plenty of hidden treasures waiting to be discovered, from Kalei to Makan and Motto and plenty of other spots off the beaten track, offering unbeatable culinary experiences.
And my search for these gems is ongoing. As one day in my Instagram feed I spotted a bakery like no other: Tusk.
It took a while to finally find the adequate sunny morning and hit the road searching for it.
To help you with the indications: you take the right turn before Mandaloun in Mar Mkhayel and then the left turn after Amarilla, and there right on the corner, you have arrived to the mysterious destination!
I spot my comfortable couch as I greet the staff of three charming people working behind their counters hidden by trays of different breads kneaded with love!
As recommended, I started with their cappuccino, with one inconvenience of unavailability of skimmed milk:( , that i paired with the chocolate chip banana cake: moist and rich with flavors bursting in your mouth with each bite.
I carried on with a dose of mocca and tried their hot cross bun: a must try as a British traditional dessert in Easter: Matt got it all right with the exact dose of sweetness enhanced by the raisins.
I can’t wait to be back to try their succulent daily dishes, their selection of eggs, one of the kneading Sunday workshops and definitely the Thursday famous pizza night!
