Re routing the saj history, this time from Montreal back to Beirut, A la saj opened its doors in Wardyeh Hamra. Transferring a know how that was spread over several countries, from Canada, to Panama, South Africa, Morocco, Jordan, UAE and now Lebanon.
As they describe themselves, A la saj represents fusion take on the regular saj creating warps with a twist mixing and matching recipes from Italy, USA, Canada, India and much more.
Not only that, what makes it unique is the yeast free dough, so you can say goodbye to bloating and heaviness that you may feel after having a regular wrap.
With a sweet company, lovely service and cozy location, I enjoyed a tasty meal.
I loved the complimentary detox water dispenser, flush and start!
Ok, I know it is a saj place, but can I tell you they have the BEST quinoa salad I ever had, literally, and there started my happy meal, the portion is Huge, and sweetly presented in the jar.
For the doritos fans, a must try the spicy doritos stuffed cheese, crunchy and served along a dip in a bag, how cute is that!
Trudeau must have approved the un-traditional Canadian wrap: maple glazed turkey with cheese and veggies, so light and the flavors are amazingly balanced, this recipe is a success!
Clooney fans, do not despair, Uno has your back! Bresaola and parmesan with ruccola and balsamic reduction, that magically does not leave the dough sagging, yet flavors the wrap.
And if I tell you that as a Kibbe fan, I was a bit suspicious to find that on the menu, but after the first bite, I will say chapeau chef, served with moutabbal that beats any Lebanese restaurant, you HAVE to try it.
I tried the crunchy nutella which comes with rice crisps and strawberry but the recipe needs some adjustment to give it a dense flavor.
In the end, I encourage, recommend, advice (*cough*) you to grab a bite at a very unusual place.
P.S they are now expanding their interiors to include another seated area, and maybe we can convince them of changing their opening hours and days!
