It seems that fall started creeping its way through and even though I am not a fan of the gloominess and the silent sad whisper of autumn leaves, I do appreciate a mild weather and mid season feel which makes me love the Mediterranean countries and especially my Lebanon. To tolerate all the other inconveniences we go through every day!
This week was marked by Queen Elizabeth’s funeral which was watched by almost 50% of the world population and the internet was blowing with picture and articles scrutinizing every single detail from the royals and their behaviors and dress code to the world leaders’ presence, street styles in London during the funeral and even the Queen’s dogs and spider on the coffin!

Hello London and Milan Fashion weeks! Starting with the most recent, Milan fashion week started with Diesel, who played around textiles like leather, knitwear and denim with extravagance. Fendi went all about neon colors and satin with skirts and dresses. Roberto Cavalli explored new prints like florals and fruits and obviously animal cheetah print. As usual, Max Mara served us the look of a fierce woman with a lot of long skirts and wide pants. GCDS’s collection with Sponge bob was meant to present sexy wear in funky way. Prada’s collection had a cinematic vision with layering and low hem skirts, contrasting fluid versus tailored cuts. Alberta Ferretti served light daywear in unexpected shades and her take on evening wear with rhinestones and crocheted raffia. Moschino never fails to impress, the collection included a lot of inflatable details while serving the brand’s regular prints and eye candy colors. Blumarine’s collection was all about year 2K. Armani’s collection was inspired by stars and summer and non western culture with jumpsuits for hot summer days, elegant and shiny sparkly colors for the night and flats for a perfect summer wardrobe. Boss showcased the fall 2022 collection that was broadcasted live on their TikTok with shoppable features (in UK only) with moto’s padding added to structured jackets, shearling coats and suits presented by models and a celebrity cast including Naomi and Arab athlete Zainab Al Eqabi.
Now back to London Fashion week which was affected by the death of Queen Elizabeth. Some of the main names like Burberry cancelled the show to announce a new date by end of September, others kept their dates unless it was on the day of the funeral where the British Fashion Council cancelled all the shows occurring on that date. Some emerging designers kept their shows as there was a lot of investment made to make the shows happen beside the logistics of booking and the importance they relied on having the shows on date for their sales and exposure. Nensi Dokja is all about delicate sexiness and new ways of working around lingerie items is a refined way. Simone Rocha presented the bomber jackets over the dresses delicately feminine yet powerful and layers of tulle adding soft airy mood to the clothes. Erdem’s collection paid homage to the British fashion and the queen with veils over dresses inspired by portrait’s from the National museum. Christopher Kane’s always bring the thrill to his collection, this time, transparent vinyl straps over cup bras, printed muscle’s anatomy over dresses and tops. JW Anderson explored our relationship with screens and phones, a bubble silver dress was the main show act, next came the various prints like maps and fish with the final piece a black T-shirt printed with a graphic commemoration of Her Majesty The Queen. Molly Goddard’s ruffled pink gowns, voluminous skirts and dresses in different materials styled with cowboy boots. Altuzarra preppy collection inspired from books from the 6os exploring nature and serving Tie Dye prints and crochet. Finally, Richard Quinn worked for ten days after the Queen’s death to add 22 looks heavily veiled in black lace, velvet tunic dresses and coats.
