Samra is a new café that opened its doors in Kraytem, where vintage meets modern, in the decoration as well as the menu.

A wide interior which is more than welcome for places serving arguileh, minimizing the congestion of smoke. The walls are decorated with collectibles, signs and posters reminding us of the good old times.

The area leading to the bathrooms is set as a living room, with two relaxing chairs inviting you to lay back and chill.

The feast started with a selection of salads:

  • Makdous with nuts and cherry tomatoes over a bed of lettuce: first time I try this mix and I loved it

  • The regular fattoush which was drizzled with pomegranate molasses as I like

  • The star was the goat cheese salad with silvered almonds and dried apricots, an absolute favourite

The cold mezze was crowned with regular hummus and beetroot flavored, very tasty yet could be served in a more appealing way. And stuffed vine leaves.

The hot mezze followed with:

  • Makanek

  • Cheese rolls

  • Chicken liver : my favorite of this section

  • Batata harra: as crunchy as spicy as it should be

The mains:

  • a mix of shawarma meat and chicken: knowing that I am not a shawarma person I wont judge these

  • their well-earned signature: roasted chicken which was phenomenal

  • A new addition of fajita sandwich was super tasty

Ending the meal with:

  • halawa cheese cake: definitely to be shared and so much worth it

  • maamoul meets knefe: not my favorite though, a huge portion crunchy form the outside and melting from the inside

  • tahini oreo cheesecake: I did not like it much

Overall the experience was very pleasant, and would recommend it!
