In almost two weeks from now, the happiest season of all will knock our doors to shed all the layers (not that we did not already do that!). An event that will see hordes of untanned bodies eager to soak up some much-needed sunlight!

But we should be ready to welcome our guest with our body and mind.

A. Beach body:

First things first, hello beach body. Oh wait a second, maybe that summer body is not ready yet but no worries, you can get rid of that belly fat while introducing five foods in your diet as recommended by Mind Body Green authors:

1. Whole Olives & Nuts:

A study by Joel Kahn author of Your Whole Heart Solution proves the effect of these two elements in accelerating the loss of belly  fat without loss of lean muscle mass.

2. Green Smoothies:

They are recommended for cleaning up our digestive systems and liver.

Bonus: Here is a recipe by Taz Bhatia, instructor of The Doctor’s Guide to Hormonal Imbalance:

Blend up 2 cups of water, ¼ cup dandelion greens, ½ cup frozen strawberries, one stalk of celery, and one banana. Blend together and enjoy!

3. Unprocessed Food:

Cutting all processed food such as added sugars, refined carbohydrates and starches is very effective in reducing the belly fat as advises —Drew Ramsey author of Eat Complete.

4. Healthy Fats:

Increasing the intake of healthy fats such as the ones found in nuts, avocado and olive oil can offset insulin resistance which is usually linked the belly fat as explains Ellen Vora instructor of How to Control Anxiety and The Doctor’s Guide to Falling Asleep Naturally.

5. Chia seeds:

Dr. Meagan Purdy, founder of Holistic Health Center Dallas explains the power of Chia seeds not only fight bloating, but they also are a well-balanced source of protein, carbs, and fat. They can absorb up to 27 times their own size in water, helping to rid you of water weight, keep your bowels regular, and keep you feeling full but not bloated.

 B. Beach reads:

For your lazy tanning sessions under the sun rays, nothing beats a good book, I recommend Rumi’s Daughter by Muriel Maufroy. A novel about Kimya who lived with Rumi’s family and her relationship with Shams Tabrizi. A page turning book.
